Arc Hydro Groundwater: A GIS for Hydrogeology
Arc Hydro Groundwater is a set of tools, data models, and workflows that help you create and manage hydrogeologic data in ArcGIS. It is an extension of Arc Hydro, a framework for water resources applications. Arc Hydro Groundwater enables you to:
Import and visualize various types of hydrogeologic data, such as wells, boreholes, time series, cross sections, volumes, and aquifers.
Analyze and model groundwater flow and transport using MODFLOW, MT3DMS, MODPATH, SEAWAT, and other codes.
Integrate surface water and groundwater data using Arc Hydro features and tools.
Create maps, charts, reports, and animations to communicate your findings.
Arc Hydro Groundwater is available for both ArcGIS 10.x and ArcGIS Pro. You can download it from Esri's website[^1^] or from Aquaveo's website[^3^]. You can also purchase a book that explains the concepts and applications of Arc Hydro Groundwater from Esri Press at Amazon[^3^].Arc Hydro Groundwater is designed to support the entire workflow of groundwater studies, from data collection and management to modeling and visualization. It helps you organize your data in a geodatabase that follows a standard schema and supports spatial and temporal queries. It also provides tools to import data from various sources, such as Excel, text files, shapefiles, geodatabases, and web services.
Arc Hydro Groundwater integrates seamlessly with ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro, allowing you to use the full power of GIS for spatial analysis, geoprocessing, mapping, and 3D visualization. You can also use Arc Hydro Groundwater tools to create and run groundwater models using popular codes such as MODFLOW and MT3DMS. You can easily set up model parameters, boundary conditions, and initial conditions using GIS data and Arc Hydro Groundwater features. You can also visualize and animate model results in 2D and 3D using ArcMap and ArcScene.
Arc Hydro Groundwater also enables you to link surface water and groundwater data using Arc Hydro features and tools. You can create hydrologic networks that represent the connectivity and flow direction of surface water features such as rivers, lakes, and watersheds. You can also create groundwater networks that represent the connectivity and flow direction of groundwater features such as aquifers, wells, and springs. You can then use these networks to perform hydrologic analysis, such as tracing flow paths, calculating water budgets, and estimating recharge and discharge.Arc Hydro Groundwater is a versatile and flexible tool that can be used for various types of groundwater studies, such as regional aquifer characterization, groundwater quality assessment, groundwater management and planning, and groundwater-surface water interaction. It can also be used for educational and research purposes, as it provides a comprehensive and consistent framework for hydrogeologic data and analysis.
Arc Hydro Groundwater is developed and maintained by a team of experts from Esri, Aquaveo, and the Center for Research in Water Resources at the University of Texas at Austin. It is based on the best practices and standards of the hydrogeologic community and incorporates feedback and suggestions from users around the world. It is constantly updated and improved to meet the evolving needs and challenges of groundwater professionals.
If you are interested in using Arc Hydro Groundwater for your projects, you can download it for free from Esri's website or from Aquaveo's website. You can also purchase a book that explains the concepts and applications of Arc Hydro Groundwater from Esri Press at Amazon. You can also find tutorials, videos, webinars, forums, blogs, and other resources on the Arc Hydro Groundwater website and on Esri's water resources website. aa16f39245
